Here is a more detailed explanation of how the Stabiliser works:
Our main concern is to point out that when carbohydrates are ingested, a certain amount can lead to blood sugar fluctuations and glycation. Glycation (sometimes called non-enzymatic glycosylation) is when sugar (glucose, fructose etc.) sticks together with a protein or fat. Glycation is the non-enzymatic process responsible for many (e.g. micro and macrovascular) complications in diabetes mellitus and is implicated in some diseases and in aging. Advanced Glycation end products (AGEs) are believed to play a causative role in the vascular complications of diabetes mellitus, eye diseases and neurogenerative disorders.
Our Stabiliser, along with the quality of "good" complex carbohydrates and skipping hidden sugars, is a innovative and convenient solution to curb these carbohydrate-specific effects.
Here's how it works: The Stabiliser prevents larger parts of the carbohydrates from being broken down by the digestive juices and thus reducing the proportion of carbohydrates absorbed in the form of sugars.
It’s primary action is actually to block the enzyme (Alpha-glucosidase) which breaks down carbs & disaccharides (sugars) into glucose. The other natural ingredients have a positive effect on insulin sensitivity 😊 the response of the cells to insulin) and lipid metabolism. This is because the active molecule in the natural white mulberry extract (250 mg Reducose®) we use has a very similar shape to glucose and is able to bind to the receptors of that enzyme for about 1 hour. xNot all Alpha-glucosidase will be blocked but clinical research reveals up to 40% reduction in carb absorption and associated blood glucose levels after a carb-rich meal; meaning the peak of blood glucose after a meal is much lower and consequently no sugar crash due to a bigger insulin response is experienced. We need insulin to promote the absorption of glucose from the blood into liver, fat and muscle cells.
Up to 40% undigested carbs/sugars are not absorbed by the intestine but still have 2 beneficial effects.
- Increasing the sensation of satiety by activating the Ileal break, an intestinal feedback mechanism that is triggered by nutrients at a specific location in the intestine.
- They act as a prebiotic to our microbiome (food for our beneficial bacterias), which in turn forms small chain fatty acids (butyrate). Released butyrate from the large intestine is taking up and ketones are created as an alternative energy source.
What about the other ingredients?
250 mg Berberine (from natural source) which has cholesterol-binding properties and supports lower fasting sugar level. 100 mg Chromium Picolinate (from yeast fermentation process) improves insulin sensitivity and metabolism processes. All ingredients in our Stabiliser are safe and cause none of the side effects which can happen with other carb blockers (no bloating or intestinal discomfort). Hope all these informations help you to get a better understanding of blood sugar control.
